Welcome! I am humbled and honored that you would stop by my little corner of the web to learn more about me. I’m glad you’re here and that you took time out of your busy day to visit! This blog is something I’ve been thinking about for a long time. I finally worked up the courage to put my thoughts and ideas into pictures and words.
For the past 15 years I have been a stay at home mom to these great kids.
They are a special blessing from God and it encourages my heart to watch them grow and begin to pursue their own gifts and talents.
Now that they are getting a little older, I find myself with some time to pursue my creative adventures.
This is Ernie, my husband of 17 years. He is the best! Without him I would have never started this blog. I’m so thankful for his love and encouragement over the years.
And I don’t want to forget to introduce you to our rescue dog, Buddy. He is the star in many of my photos. 🙂
Inspiration for Blog
We have lived in our home in Ohio for 15 years. My DIY adventures started about seven years ago, when I refinished our kitchen counter-tops. Then just like the book “When you give a Mouse a Cookie…” I went from one project to the next. I enjoy using my creative skills to redesign and build our home into a place of warmth and comfort. It brings me joy to welcome my family home each day and I can see the stress melt away when they plop down their things and ask for a snack. 🙂
I know that God has wired me to be creative and share it with others. It’s funny because I grew up in a very practical, no-nonsense environment. I’ve spent most of my life trying to overcome being a dreamer and just accept the “real world” that we live in. The truth is, I know I could never be satisfied with that.
When I was young, I enjoyed singing and playing the organ. I would play with different notes and come up with unique melodies, lose myself in Crayola sets with different color combinations and push myself to draw the world that I see around me. My family likes to tell me about the invisible friend that I would have lengthy conversations with. I absolutely love to create and see things with a new perspective!
I know it’s a bit surprising that I enjoy power tools, woodworking and plain old hard work. That must come from my parents. They raised 6 children (I am the youngest) and we were always working on the house. My dad was a very hard-working person and involved the whole family in his DIY adventures. He bought a fixer upper before that was a “thing” and we made everything functional again.
That brings me to today, remodeling my home one project at a time. I absolutely love the process of visualizing something and then bringing it to life. There is just a place of joy that rises up in my soul when I’m dreaming, designing, and learning something new!
So, here I am with some young teenage boys and a blog that I never thought I would have the courage to start and follow through with. It is my sincerest desire that it blesses, helps, encourages and/or inspires your life in some way. I’m excited to see what the next chapter of this journey holds! Thanks for again for visiting.
