Five Free Snowflake SVG Files: DIY Framed Art Tutorial
This blog post includes Five Free Snowflake SVG files and a tutorial to create DIY Framed Art from card stock. The snowflake cut files are scalable vector graphics (SVG) and are approximately six inches in size.

These framed snowflakes are one of my favorite Cricut crafts, but you can create a bunch of fun projects with the files. Use them in winter projects, greeting cards, a banner, or wall art. For the holiday season, create snowflake ornaments, a Christmas craft, or as an invitation card.
The SVG cut files can be resized to fit the craft project you are working on in Cricut Design Space or Silhouette Studio. Just be careful not to scale them down too small as the designs are intricate and you may have difficulty getting a clean cut on a tiny project.

Each snowflake has two layers to give them a more dimensional appearance. The top layer is an intricate design and the bottom snowflake layer provides a black background to offset the white snowflakes. These digital files are available in SVG, DXF, EPS, PNG, and PDF file formats to accommodate most cutting machine types. The PNG files have a transparent background for your convenience. For more information about these files or this craft project, check out the video down below.

Inspiration For This Project
I’m one of those people who like to switch out the decor in my home as the seasons change and many of my design inspirations come from nature.
There is a really large wall in my front room that has been empty for quite some time and I’ve been looking for a budget-friendly option to fill the open space. So this project is my solution to that problem.

Based on the wall dimensions, I figured a row of multiple frames would be the best solution. Designing my own artwork allows me to inexpensively swap it out when I’m ready for a change.
I created this artwork in Adobe Illustrator and I used my Cricut to cut the snowflakes out of card stock. The artwork was transferred with transfer tape and mounted on a coordinating piece of card stock. The black layer of card stock helps the white snowflake stand out and creates a dimensional look.

Along the way, I learned some tricks for using transfer tape with card stock that I thought would be helpful to share with you. Using transfer tape helps prevent intricate paper designs from tearing while removing them from the mat and keeps the design in its original position for the proper alignment. However, transfer tape is designed to be used with vinyl, not card stock. But, I’ve included some tips to make it work for you. I’ve also included information on how to center your design and mount it for display in a store-bought picture frame. You can watch the full video here.
