PAINT YOUR FRAMES

I picked up these cute little frames at the Target Dollar Spot. I love the size and they even have magnets on the back of them. I’m not a bright color girl, so for me, they needed a paint job.

I measured the frame opening and cut card-stock to protect the plastic. Then I added a dark grey-beige paint. I just used a Purdy paint brush for this project.

Next, I covered them with two coats of white chalk paint. Then I lightly sanded them with a medium grit sandpaper. This gave the frames a rustic weathered appearance.

CUT THE BURLAP SQUARES

To keep the edges of the burlap from fraying, I added a layer of therm-o-web to the back of it. Then I placed it on a Strong Grip cutting mat and cut the squares out using the rotary blade on my Silhouette Cameo 4.

If you don’t have a cutting machine, you can easily cut them with a pair of fabric scissors.

Next, I used my Cricut Easy Press to bond the burlap squares to a piece of white card-stock. You can also use an iron for this step. Test fit the burlap squares in your frame opening. I put mine on top of the plastic/glass.

CUT OUT YOUR STENCILS

I used some old page dividers to make my stencils. I always snag these from my kids at the end of the school year. They make beautiful stencils on my cutting machine.

I used a strong grip mat and selected the stencil material for my cut settings.

If you don’t have a cutting machine, you will need to print the PDF templates from white card-stock and use the card-stock bunny instead of paint on your burlap. Another option is to use white heat transfer vinyl.

STENCIL YOUR BUNNIES

Add some white chalk paint to a paper plate. Then grab a makeup sponge and cut the end off of it, so it’s flat, not curved. These are a dollar for 28 sponges at the Dollar Tree.

Dip the sponge into the paint. Then hold your stencil in place and dab on the paint.

Add some twine around the edge of the burlap square with a glue gun. Then tie some around the bottom of your frames.

CONNECT THE FRAMES TOGETHER

Cut some rectangles from the burlap and add some therm-o-web to the back of them. Then cut card-stock rectangles to the same size. Score the center of the card-stock and fold it in both directions. Iron your burlap to the card-stock. Using a hot glue gun to connect the back of the frames with the fabric panels.

I had the burlap fabric face towards the front, so when you bend the frames, it shows through.

HOW TO MAKE A POM POM BUNNY TAIL

I made the pom pom bunny tails from baker’s twine. If you have yarn, even better. Wrap the twine around a fork, multiple times. Then tie the middle with another piece of baker’s twine.

Then cut the twine on both sides.

Hold the longer strings and fluff the tail. You can trim the tail shorter with scissors, until it’s the size you need.
